Employment Specialist II Position

 Good-2-Go Oregon is Central Oregon's premiere community-based support program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).  We specialize in high functioning adults who experience some form of Developmental Disability.   

The Employment Services (EMP) department helps our clients find and maintain gainful employment in the community.  We work with community partners to find roles which highlight the strengths associated with client's I/DD (eg strong visual thinking), and provide workplace supports to mitigate challenges that come with the client's I/DD.  

Employment Specialists II, also known as Job Developers, work primarily to secure employment for our clients.  This is done through 2 phases:  Job Development - Helping clients prepare for, apply to, and interview for jobs in the community.  Job Coaching - Helping a client who has been hired learn the tasks of their job and supervising them until they are successful.

Note:  At Good2Go Job Developers spend the majority of their time in field with clients who have already been hired.

Job Development Responsibilities

• Help clients discover jobs / careers that meet their goals and needs
• Help clients develop core skills needed for their career
• Help clients write resume and apply to jobs
• Prepare clients for interviews
• Follow up with interviewers and advocate for clients

Job Coaching Responsibilities:

• Travel to job sites in the community (Eg Safeway)
• Attend the client's orientation
• Help the client learn the tasks of the job
• Develop adaptive strategies for the client to complete tasks they are challenged by
• Supervise the client throughout the job start process
• Support established clients with the parts of their job that they are challenged by
• Check in with independent clients to ensure long-term success
• Periodically check in with the managers of clients to ensure long-term success

 Due to the nature of services, we are looking for a creative, empathetic, and patient individual to help with services.  Candidates must show strong communication skills, be able to de-escalate situations, and exhibit strong professional boundaries. 

Qualified applicants must:

• Have excellent verbal communication skills,
• Have a general understanding of many entry level roles,
• Have strong time management skills,
• Possess the ability for creative problem solving, and
• Be solution oriented.

Job Requirements:

• Be able to pass a criminal background check
• Be able to obtain a First-Aid/CPR certification within 90-days of employment, and.
• Have reliable personal vehicles to travel between clients' places of work (with travel/mileage reimbursement).

Schedule:

• Self Scheduled based on client needs, 
• We strongly encourage Monday - Friday day shifts, but job coaches may work occasional nights or weekends

Compensation:

• Starting Rate: $21.00 - $22.00 /hr
